Are you licensed and insured?

In an era when many service providers in the home improvement industry fall short of meeting their ethical and legal responsibilities, it is important for you to know that Custom Carpentry is not only fully licensed (by Suffolk County and Southampton) and insured both when it comes to your home’s safety and our workers’ as well.  This is just the minimal commitment to ethical standards, however. As your neighbor and as a sound corporate citizen, Custom Carpentry goes even further to maintain our ethical standards.  From environmental concerns (such as recycling and the proper disposal of materials) to employment policies, Custom Carpentry subscribes to its own high standards of social responsibility. As your neighbor and  members of your community, all the team at Custom Carpentry is mindful of what makes the East End a special place in which to live and dedicated to keeping it that way.

Who are you?

John Kirmish is a twenty-five year veteran of the construction and building field, which is a longstanding family profession.  Growing up on Long Island, he learned the finer points of the trade working side by side with his grandfather, a master carpenter Whose techniques reflected the old world craftsmanship that set the standard for his work today. Nearly two decades ago, he founded the East-End based Custom Carpentry and has completed a broad range of projects on both the South and North Forks since that time. A highly trained cabinetmaker with extensive structural engineering expertise, Mr. Kirmish has mastered the skills and problem-solving techniques that are needed for jobs big and small, including not only new construction but the most demanding tasks in historic preservation and everything between.

A resident of Mattituck and father of two, one of whom is frequently on site as part of the team, Mr. Kirmish is an active volunteer in community affairs and projects, including many sponsored by the Mattituck Chamber of Commerce.
